![]() ![]() Either way, dubbed or subbed Spirited Away is a great movie, as is all of Studio Ghibli's works. There were some other things I noticed, but they don't stick out quite as much as that change. It's not soul crushingly different, but it still threw me through a loop nonetheless. Then of course with the scripts being different, the plot was different too, like how Chihiro didn't know Haku was the Dragon until the scene in the boiler room. I wouldn't think it's that hard to translate it verbatim, or even closer than what I recall. My question is why are the scripts different? I noticed that a lot of lines from the subbed version are different, non existent, etc in the dubbed version, and vise-versa. I love both formats the same, but the dubbed over version holds a place in my heart (as with all Ghibli movies). This wasn't my first time watching Spirited Away in theaters (I watched it last year) but it was my first time seeing it subbed. For a little bit of context I grew up watching Ghibli films with my mom, dubbed over. Greetings everyone! Today I saw Spirited Away in it's subtitled form for the first time (this was also in theaters mind you, thanks to Ghibli fest 2018). ![]()
